Description

Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG intend to build a new parking facility on the site of the Weidenpesch main workshop. In the course of this, the entire existing site will be converted, a new parking facility will be built and the access route to the depot will be renewed.
In a first step the existing outdoor area of the main workshop was rebuilt including the tracks. This was followed by the construction of the storage facility. In a next step, the supply line to the main workshop and the junction of the connection to the supply line will be implemented. The supply line is connected to the railway sidings and the Neusser Straße triangle, and the formation protection layer will be handed over to the track constructor. The construction of the supply line includes the installation of 2 switch systems in the area of the supply to the storage hall (switches Wp 2 0-1 (01) and Wp2 1-1 (02)), the switch systems "west branch" in the area of the Neusser Straße triangle, the construction of approx. 1,600 m Vignol track and 2 service roads made of GRP components. The access route also includes a level crossing, which is located in the area of the Simonskaul road.
