The Giechburgschule Scheßlitz looks after about 200 pupils and about 42 preschoolers ("SVE children") in 18 classes and 4 SVE groups. 4 of the 18 classes are full-day classes. In the primary school level 2 short groups and 3 long groups are approved within the framework of the open all-day school, which are looked after with a cooperation partner in the premises of the Giechburgschule. In the afternoons, the Curative Education Day Care Centre also supports a group of 10 pre-school children on the premises of the SVE groups. For some years now, up to 4 classes have had to be accommodated outside the Giechburg School. Up to now this could be done in former school buildings of neighbouring communities, but from April 2020 container facilities will be available for these classes.the local conditions have prompted the school management together with the school administration to ask the government of Upper Franconia to examine the space programme.as a result of the examination the government has confirmed an additional space requirement of about 900 m² of usable space for the Giechburgschule Scheßlitz. The additional rooms can only be created by structural extensions, as there are no possibilities in the existing building stock. Therefore an appropriate extension is planned in connection with the renovation of the existing school building and the caretaker's house. The existing property of the Giechburgschule is too small for an extension. Therefore, the provider of material expenses intends to acquire partial areas of adjacent plots.
