Description
A model factory on the topic of Industry 4.0 / Smart Factory is to be set up in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism (EMT). This is to teach students of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering competencies in the areas of automation technology, robotics, hydraulics/pneumatics and communication technology using industrial components.
The model factory must be constructed in a modular way, whereby individual modules can be easily exchanged or removed from the structure without the need for a complete reconfiguration of the plant. To this end, the individual modules must be self-contained, i.e. equipped with their own control system, and must be able to communicate with other modules via suitable communication channels. The individual modules must also be able to be operated autonomously, i.e. decoupled from the overall plant. The modules must be constructed from standard industrial components, in particular PLC, sensors and actuators must represent the current state of the art.An automated transfer of the components to be manufactured must take place between the individual modules, e.g. by conveyor belts or handling robots. A system of workpiece carriers/palettes is desirable here, which can be easily adapted to variable requirements. The system must consist of conveyor belt sections and application stations, whereby the position of the application stations in the course of the belt must be variable. In addition, it must be possible to operate the entire system via a suitable man-machine interface. This is used to configure the requirements for the part to be manufactured and to display the necessary system parameters. The production must also explicitly allow the so-called "batch size 1", i.e. individual production of the parts with constantly changing configurations. In addition, it should be possible to remove or feed parts from the system with an existing mobile robot system (MIR with mounted UR5).
