This is a Market Survey for information only. This is not a solicitation for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this synopsis. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this synopsis or any follow-up information requests. The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to gain knowledge of potentially qualified sources and their size classifications (Small Business, Large Business, etc.). Please do not request a copy of the solicitations, as one does not exist.
1. Purpose:
This is a RFI in support of Market Research being conducted by the United States Air Force to identify potential sources for the anticipated purchase of two (2) storage server systsms large enough to store, access, secure, and manage large quantities of mission critical data. The storage system will be an archival system and cannot be a Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Networks (SAN), a storage array, or Just a Bunch of Disks (JBOD). It must be a single system capable of long term data storage running a workstation operating system. Must contain a minimum of 60 drive bays that are individually addressable in Operating System and stored in same chassis (cannot be external chassis /JBOD).
2. Requirement:
This acquisition anticipates seeking a vendor who can provide two (2) storage system servers that must meet the following requirements at a minimum:
Components Requirements
CPU: 2 x E52620 Support a minimum 16 core 32 thread CPU (either single cpu or double cpu sockets) at 2.10GHz capable of using 256GB memory at DDR4 2400MHZ ECC
Motherboard: X10DRL RAM:(32GB DDR4 RAM) (Minimum 32GB of DDR4 2400 MHz ECC RAM (or faster) expandable up to 256GB (x8 DIMM slots minimum). Must be capable of storing up to 840TB of data (60 x 14TB drives).
Boot Drives: 2 x120GB Solid State Drives (SSD), primary and redundant drives
HBA card: 4 x LSI9305 Must utilize either HBA or RAID Controller cards capable of 12Gb/s. Must be capable of utilizing either SATA or SAS drives or a combination of both SATA and SAS.
Chassis with 60 drive bays Must be capable of using 60 ea 3.5" drives. Must be capable of utilizing HDDs or SSDs or a mix of the two simultaneously.
HDD: 15 x Seagate Exos ST4000NM0035 4TB Hard drives must be "Encryption at Rest" capable.
OS: Pre-installed with CentOS Operating System or Windows 10
Network: Two high speed NICs Must have 1Gb/s NIC as well as 10Gb/s NIC.
Power: Redundant power, 120 VAC, 1200W 1200W redundant power supply with remote monitoring capabilities
Cannot use proprietary backplane System must be maintainable/upgradeable by off the shelf components.
Pre-installed cooling solution to properly cool all drives and components while in use. Must be designed to properly cool with all 60 drives installed and operational
Rack mountable Must fit within a 4U rack space.
3. Information requested:
The Government requests interested offerors that can fully support this requirement furnish the following information:
A. Company name, address, points of contact, phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
B. Information should include a brief description of experience in providing the type of support described above. Please include contract references relating to research and engineering expertise to include: contract number; agency supported, period of performance, original contract value, and Point of Contacts with current phone number. The information package must be clear, concise, and complete. The Air Force is under no obligation to provide feedback to the company, or to contact the company for clarification of any information submitted in response to this request.
The Government will not be responsible for any costs incurred by responding to this Notice. Issuing this RFI is part of market research and for planning purposes only. It does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a promise to issue a RFP in the future. This RFI does not commit the U.S. Government to contract for any supply, action, activity, or service whatsoever. Further, the Government is not seeking proposals at this time. The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this sources sought.
C. Any other information deemed useful to the Air Force. Information packages should be limited to no more than two pages.
4. Inquiries:
Any qualified and interested companies responding to this announcement must be able to support all areas. NO partial support responses from industry will be accepted.
