Description

To improve local public transport, Markt Murnau am Staffelsee is planning to introduce a local bus, which will be operated as an on-demand service. Markt Murnau am Staffelsee is looking for a service provider to provide the bus, operate it and implement the desired on-demand service. The market town of Murnau am Staffelsee is located in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps about 70 km south of Munich. The municipality has about 12 500 inhabitants and covers an area of about 38 km2. The town is popular with tourists and hosts around 50,000 visitors a year. The number of day tourists is in the region of one million. The market town is connected by the Werdenfelsbahn to the Munich - Garmisch-Partenkirchen route and by the Ammergaubahn to Oberammergau. The regional network includes regional bus connections to Kochel, Grafenaschau and Ettal, and the flexible and demand-driven operation is implemented without fixed routes. Requested journeys must be registered and booked in advance using a smartphone app, online platform or telephone. The stops are defined virtually in a close-meshed network and distributed over the operating area. The actual route is calculated and optimised in real time after receipt of the bookings. The system must also offer the possibility to integrate other mobility service providers (e.g. taxis, car sharing, bicycle rental, rail) in order to offer the user maximum flexibility. All statutory provisions necessary for this type of transport must be complied with. In particular, the bidder must ensure that it has the necessary approvals, including under the PBefG, at least at the start of the service in order to perform the service in accordance with the rules.
