At approx. 163 km of watercourses, maintenance must be carried out from adjacent (private) plots of land. Only at 3 km of watercourses is there an approx. 3 m wide maintenance path on one side. Approximately 21 km of watercourses in the area have a soil that is covered with clinkers; a so-called clinker brook. These are narrow soils, which are generally covered with approx. 10 rows of longitudinal vowels. Total approx. 150 km. Along a limited part, approx. 45 km, of the watercourses to be maintained there are approx. 3 m wide maintenance paths. For the remaining 105 km of watercourses, mowing maintenance must be carried out from adjacent (private) plots of land. Total 106 km. This cutlery is a combination of rural watercourses (approx. 60 km) and natural watercourses (approx. 46 km). The rural watercourses are largely machine-maintainable. The natural watercourses must be ca. 80 % maintained by hand. For the maintenance of these natural watercourses, it is important that the contractor and the contractors have knowledge of the ecology of brook systems.
