Procurement of rolling stock for local public passenger rail transport and, where appropriate, related services
The subject of the award is a contract for the (development, if applicable), manufacture, delivery, commissioning and approval of up to 28 new electric vehicles, each with at least 420 seats, and up to 8 new electric vehicles, each with at least 660 seats, for local public rail passenger transport services, including spare parts for services operated by Verkehrsausschreibung Kinzigtal. The supplies and services to be provided by the contractor (including any associated services, e.g. training) are described in the further award documents. Additional requirements to be fulfilled by the contractor are envisaged, in particular for quality monitoring and support by the contracting authority, depending on whether the contractor is offering a newly developed vehicle or a vehicle based on an existing platform, possibly with significant modifications. Two financing models are envisaged, which are described in the further award documents. The contracting authority currently expects the vehicles to be in service by the December 2025 timetable change. The announcement and the award of contract are subject to the commissioning of the corresponding transport service by the public transport authority.
