Description

With the construction of the new Fraunhofer Project Center for Energy Storage and Systems ZESS, the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft intends to establish a national competence center that will bring mobile and stationary energy storage systems up to industrial maturity and demonstrate them. A highly specialized research building for approx. 100 employees is required, which includes office, laboratory and pilot plant space. The total area required is approx. 3,300 m2 (HNF 1-6). The planning tasks of the technical building services are divided among 4 specialist planners: 1. HVAC, 2. ELT, 3. laboratory, 4. MSR. In addition to the standard for the building, the following special tasks are to be expected:- drying rooms up to 10 % relative humidity,- chemical laboratories,- storage and filling of metal powders, metal foils, heavy metals and toxic solvents,- operation of electrolysis plants with storage of product gases,- storage of battery cells,- central storage and distribution of gases with H2 technology with up to 60 bar at the user interface,- fire protection facilities, e.g. Special extinguishing system,- Complex requirements for explosion protection,- Destructive safety investigations of batteries,- Hazardous gases in the event of damage such as H2S and HCl,- Particle and noise pollution due to proximity to motorways,- Fluctuating mains pollution with feedback due to cyclic charging and discharging cycles of the batteries,- electrical supply of up to several 100 kW with monitoring of network perturbations,- network failure safety during long-term and service life tests,- indoor crane,- water treatment and waste water treatment,- flexible control for energy efficiency (air quantities, heat, air dryness).
