Description

The Pan American Games are the fourth largest sporting event in the world. The 18th games are being hosted in Peru for the first time and are taking place in Lima between 26 July and 11 August 2019.

The games will bring together the nations of North and South America, with over 6,000 athletes participating in 39 sports and 62 disciplines.

The Sixth Parapan American Games will also take place in Lima and will run from 23 August to 1 September 2019.

They will gather more than 1,800 athletes who will participate in 17 sports and 18 disciplines.

There will be significant opportunities for UK companies to respond to tenders that Lima 2019 will issue for products and services that will be needed to deliver the organisation of the games.

Operations contracts for the Games are now underway and there are upcoming tenders in the following areas:

- overlay like temporary power and lighting, rigging, containment and venue turnkey solutions
- security like searching and screening, staff training, C4i & C3 development, closed circuit television, cybersecurity and protective equipment
- technology like audio visual, web page and App domain and design, telecommunications, Perpendicular Magnetic Recording and spectrum management
- operations like logistics and warehouse management, vehicle rental, catering, cleaning and housekeeping
- marketing such as the look of the Games, creative advertising and institutional and advertising videos

Although most of the large sports cluster infrastructure projects have been tendered, there are still opportunities to connect to the winning consortiums from Peru, Spain and Chile to explore supply chain needs.
