Description

This new requirement is for The Hospital Education and Staff Development to enter into a new contract to provide a Pediatric Skills Program Workshop. This is tailored hands on pediatric training workshop for various healthcare members of Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC). Staff caring for pediatric patients, including those working in emergency medicine, are often missing the opportunity or lacking the skills and experience in caring for sicker pediatric patients. Factors contributing to the knowledge and practice gaps include low pediatric census, inexperience staff members and frequent transfer of the pediatric patient to the local community hospital. This workshop will provide core pediatric nursing knowledge that will prepare the staff nurses working on the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Ward, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Department Family Community Medicine, Community Care Clinic, and the Emergency Care Unit, to safely care for the pediatric patient as well as to ensure clinical consistency within current practice guidelines.
