Description

The monastery church of St. Michael was closed in November 2012 due to acute danger of collapse. Massive cracks in the ceiling sails of the church vault, severe loss of substance and constant emergency securing measures on facades and walls, leaking roof coverings and inadequate drainage made this imperative. In recent years, a variety of preliminary investigations of the room shell and furnishings took place, as well as the structural repair of the church. In 2015-2019, the church was fundamentally structurally secured. The roof structures were repaired, roofing and roof sheeting were renewed, vaults were stabilized, masonry was structurally reworked and foundation improvements were carried out in some areas.
On the basis of a competition, the restoration of the existing stained glass windows - manufactured at the beginning of the 20th century - is put out to tender.three figurative and two ornamental round arch windows and four ornamental stained glass windows are to be worked on.The focus of the work, as well as the weighting in the competition, is on the conservation and restoration of the historic stained glass windows.
