Description

The object of the service is a data center container for the Oberpfaffenhofen site. The container contains 7 racks as well as a cooling system and emergency power supply.
The Earth Observation Center (EOC) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) is the institute in which the data of numerous national and international space missions are processed in earth observation. Its long-term archives store, among other things, satellite image data, which can be accessed efficiently, flexibly and fully automatically. At present, the German Satellite Data Archive (D-SDA) manages a data volume of 25 petabytes with an annual growth of about 5 petabytes. To be able to handle the numerous tasks and projects in the EOC, an extensive IT infrastructure is required. However, the multitude of servers, storage devices and network components requires more and more space, i.e. rack space, which is no longer available in the EOC. For this reason, it was decided to outsource part of the IT infrastructure to a mobile data center container. The standard container format of 40 feet (approx. 12 meters) is to be delivered. The data center container represents an independent and container-based system. The container is to be delivered ready for operation with the trades air conditioning, power distribution, emergency power supply, heavy-duty double floor construction, door system, lighting and work sockets.
