Description
Procurement of a coordinated-measuring machine for NOVA, the Dutch Research School for Astronomy. NOVA is the alliance of the astronomical institutes of the universities of Amsterdam, Groningen, Leiden, and Nijmegen, legally represented by the Leiden University.
The Machine will be used to verify the geometric quality of in-house designed and manufactured parts. The CMM selection criteria are based on one-off aluminium structures and mirrors and the capabilities of our new CNC machine, the GROB G750. This is a long term investment, both machine together providing us the ability to develop, produce, assemble and align larger, more complex and more accurate parts and assemblies required for the latest scientific and astronomical instruments. The machine will not only be used for measurements of single parts, but as it is situated in a clean environment, also allows us to make measurements on assemblies, finetuning adjustments on the fly.
