Description

The University Medical Center Freiburg (UKF), Clinic for Radiotherapeutics, intends to award a framework contract for the delivery, installation and management (full maintenance) of 4 linear accelerators and other equipment (see II.2.4)) as well as for an innovative strategic partnership with an industrial partner. The aim is to establish high-quality technological equipment that guarantees high-quality radiotherapeutic care for oncological patients at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg (CCCF), enables adequate use in teaching and is suitable for innovation and sustainability in clinical care and university-based interdisciplinary research. UKF aims to convert from the existing multi-vendor to a "single-vendor" equipment pool and associated IT systems and services.
The subject of the framework contract to be awarded is the replacement procurement for a total of 4 linear accelerators, 2 HDR afterloading devices for brachytherapy and intraoperative brachytherapy, 1 real-time 3D ultrasound-based radiation planning system for HDR brachytherapy of the prostate, software for radiation planning as well as R&V software with support for all therapy devices and integration in/with ROKI software for digital mapping of the entire patient workflow and data in radiation therapy and for radiation therapy service recording. The required back-up functionalities (failure concept) must be guaranteed. The technological equipment and the underlying concept must correspond to the performance priorities of the clinic both in patient care and in research.UKF strives together with the technology partner to establish the Clinic for Radiation Medicine as a reference and training center for closer following applications in radiation oncology: external, percutaneous and interventional radiation therapy (brachytherapy).UKF also intends to form a strategic partnership with the technology partner for the development and establishment of a leading innovation centre for the development, introduction and study of innovative technologies and new radiotherapy treatment methods. This is to be achieved, among other things, by establishing intensive cooperation in the medical-physical, information-technological and clinical areas, taking into account the respective focal points of the clinic and the technology partner. The aim is to set up a "Technology Innovation Lab" in which the development of a modular (open) technology platform consisting of radiation technology and preferably multiple 3D and 4D imaging technology can be realized. For this purpose, a plot of land owned by the state is available for the construction of a bunker. Initially, the focus will be on high-precision irradiation technologies.
