Description
The Abdel Al Hydropower Plant feeds the overall EDL grid in power and has a substation providing power to 93 villages in Bekaa and South Lebanon.The Abdel Al Hydropower Plant (MARKABI HPP) is the first hydropower plant on Litani River located in West Bekaa near the village of Machgara. Since 1962, its installed capacity is 2x18 MW and it is the master of the cascade of hydroelectric power Plants formed by the following power stations: MARKABI (2x18MW), AWALI (3x36 MW) and JOUN (2x24 MW). The Electric Protection System (EPS) is an essential component of the plant equipment. It consists of a series of electrical relays that protect the grid from electric shortcuts and damage. By time, the EPS is consumed and needs to be replaced to protect the plant from damage
