Description

We intend to award a contract for the support to environmental monitoring of 2 hydropower dams on the Mekong river, the Don Sahong and the Xayaburi hydropower dams. GIZ is supporting the Mekong River Commission, both in the development of hydropower in an environmentally friendly and poverty-aware manner, and in its efforts to protect the population from the adverse impacts of climate change in the Lower Mekong Basin. The MRC-GIZ cooperation program therefore, in continuation of its past support to sustainable-hydropower related activities and in line with its current program objectives (Output 2: A joint monitoring of the environmental impacts of 2 hydropower projects — the Don Sahong hydropower project and the Xayaburi hydropower project — has been established) is recruiting a team of international (4) and national (3) experts to assist with the environmental monitoring of these 2 dams. The monitoring will cover 5 disciplines: hydrology, sediment, water quality, aquatic ecology and fisheries.
