Description

Under the leadership of the DVR, various partners from the tyre industry, associations, automobile clubs and testing organisations have joined forces to form the Tyre Quality Initiative "I play it safe! The Tyre Quality Initiative is financed by contributions from the partners. It was created in 2010 by combining previous campaigns and focuses on tyre quality, tyre choice and expert advice in the retail sector. Product quality has an impact on braking distance, wet grip, cornering stability and handling, but also on the safety of older tyres or fuel consumption. The condition of the tyres, including safety tread depth and tyre pressure, is also relevant to safety.
Under the leadership of the DVR, various partners from the tire industry, associations, automobile clubs and testing organizations have joined forces to form the tire quality initiative "I play it safe! The overall aim is to inform road users about the importance of high-quality tyres for vehicle safety and to make them aware of this. The core message is "Quality creates safety". Information is provided on which tyres should be used at what time of year, what to look for when choosing new and safer tyres, how to handle tyres properly and how often and what checks should be carried out. The topic "Safety through high-quality tyres" is reinforced by regular information for road users on current product developments as well as research and investigation results. The safety strategy of DVR Vision Zero is the basis for the work of the initiative, which focuses on car drivers. The trade is also targeted - with the request to emphasise quality aspects when buying tyres. Multipliers are the media, experts from the tyre trade, the automotive industry, technical monitoring organisations and automobile clubs as well as driving instructors. If necessary, politics and administration are addressed. The content of the project is being developed in close cooperation with the DVR Board Committee on Automotive Engineering.
