Description
At present, light rail line 1 has no longer exceeded its capacity limit on some sections during peak times, but it can be assumed that this will soon be the case again. Light rail lines 7 and 9 will also exceed their capacity limits in the short term. Against the backdrop of the forecast population growth and the desired traffic turnaround to strengthen the environmental network, a significant expansion of the available capacities is absolutely essential in the short to medium term. The capacity expansions on the east-west axis are also a prerequisite for extensions to Cologne's light rail network, e.g. to Neubrück, Zündorf-Süd or Bergisch Gladbach-Moitzfeld. Increased frequencies on the existing infrastructure are no longer possible due to the train frequency of 5 trips per 10 minutes per direction in the central area, so that additional capacity requires either the construction of an additional line through the city center or the upgrading of the existing line for longer trains. Due to the available financing options, only upgrading for longer trains currently offers a realistic prospect of implementation in terms of time.
The use of long trains (approx. 90 m instead of the previous 60 m; i.e. increasing the available space by 50%) on the east-west axis requires numerous existing stops to be adapted.
These four underground stops on the right bank of the Rhine are relevant for this project:
? Deutz Technical University [DZB]
? Kalk Post Office [KPO]
? Kalk Chapel [KKP]
? Fuldaer Straße [FDS]
The overarching project objectives for all stops are:
? Fire protection upgrades, including the creation of additional entrances (based on the fire protection concepts as a result of increased passenger numbers)
? Creation of barrier-free accessibility
? Making the station more attractive
The relevant performance image\/work is:
? Technical equipment: Power installations according to § 53-56 and Annex 15, Group 4 of HOAI 2021.
- The following requirements must be implemented for all 4 stops:
The requirements of the KVB electrical engineering requirements profile must be applied to stops. The transformers must be replaced due to their advanced age of over 40 years and must be designed for the power of the required consumers. This also applies to the inverter, which must also be designed for the new consumers. Two major new consumers will be the elevators. The main distribution board must be adapted for this and new cables laid. It must be checked whether the suitability for further use and expansion of the entire installed electrical systems corresponds to the KVB requirements profile. The safety lighting unit must be designed in accordance with the KVB requirements profile. The flood bulkhead gate, which is currently provisionally connected to the transformer network, must be connected to the safety power supply network. The entire lighting at the station must be converted to LED lights. There are tunnel boxes, tunnel lighting and tunnel buttons in the KVB tunnels. For this purpose, cables must be planned and laid from the distribution to the first tunnel box, tunnel lighting and tunnel button as a transfer point. The consumers in the stopping point must be divided into traction current-relevant and non traction current-relevant consumers and planned as distributions according to the requirement profile. A fourth feed-in source must be provided in accordance with the KVB requirement profile NEA (emergency power supply unit). No separate heat supply system is planned for the station. A heat supply with electric heaters is therefore planned for the operating rooms.
- Fuldaer Straße [FDS]:
The station has a 400 kVA transformer and a 130 kVA inverter. The safety lighting still corresponds to the old state of the art and still uses incandescent lamps. (The text has been cut off. You can find the entire text in the PDF file)
