Description
The Reykjavík Department of Environment and Planning, in collaboration with the Architects Association of Icelandic, calls for applications from architects / design teams to participate in a design competition for a transformation of Grófarhús by Tryggvagata, which houses the city’s main library, Borgarbókasafnið Grófin. The competition includes proposal for the exterior of the building, with the intention to bring the building closer to its original appearance, changes to the interior of the existing library building, interior design of an already built extension, as well as possible solutions for entrances.The competition is a design competition with pre-selection. Everyone is free to participate in the pre-selection and the aim of the competition is to get both experienced and less experienced design teams to come up with interesting proposals for the design of the city center's future library.

Five teams will be selected in the pre-selection phase and invited to take part in the competition. They will each receive ISK 5,000,000 kr. without VAT, to work out proposals for the competition.
