Description
In the course of the implementation of the project Modernisation and Reattractivisation of the German Maritime Museum, various demolition works are planned (see demolition description appendix 56 under contract documents).
The Stiftung Deutsches Meeresmuseum (DMM) is planning to reactivate the main building of the "Meeresmuseum", which is located in the historic monastery of St. Katharinen in the old town of Stralsund. Extensive new construction, conversion and modernisation work is planned.the subject of this contract is the demolition work (see description of the demolition work, annex 56 under contract documents).the German Maritime Museum intends to thoroughly modernise, renovate and make the buildings of the property at the Maritime Museum, Katharinenberg 14-20, 18439 Stralsund barrier-free.the character of a classic natural history museum in a medieval monastery building is to be retained, but with new accents and made more attractive for visitors. In addition to a new concept clearly separated from the Ozeaneum, the architecture is to be more strongly emphasised. The architecture and historical building fabric of the monastery complex is to be emphasised with clear lines of sight in the Katharinenhalle and additional openings to the Stralsund Museum, and the cloister is to be made more tangible as the central axis of the monastery complex. The entrance and cash desk area is to be made more inviting for visitors, the shop and service areas are to be adapted to the requirements of a modern museum and made accessible outside opening hours. The entire museum tour is to be made barrier-free by means of additional lifts, and the aquariums in the basement are to be modernised and equipped with more energy-efficient, low-maintenance technology. The following partial measures are part of the project for the reattractivisation and modernisation of the Maritime Museum:- Redesign of the entire museum forecourt (Nordhof);- Redesign of the foyer including the museum shop;- Modernisation and redesign of the existing exhibition and aquariums;- Construction of a new large fish aquarium;- Relocation of the preparation workshops;- Redesign of the current bistro area in front of the turtle aquarium.
