Description
The subject of the procedure is the construction of a 3 to 4-storey new research building with laboratory areas for the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, Hans Knöll Institute (HKI) on the Beutenberg Campus in Jena, which was founded in 1991 as the Hans Knöll Institute for Natural Product Research and is now a state-of-the-art research institute with 420 employees. As a result of the further scientific profiling and the associated personnel development of the HKI, the existing building capacities are no longer sufficient. In addition, the working conditions in laboratory buildings 1 and 2 deviate considerably from the currently applicable standards and urgently require improvement. The HKI is therefore planning a new building at the current location of laboratory buildings 1 and 2 with laboratory units and theoretical workplaces on a total usable area of 2,400 m2. The architectural quality of the building is to be integrated into the architectural ensemble of the HKI on the one hand and on the other hand it is to meet the requirements of "high-tech" biotechnological research with a high functional quality. 1037-048 VE 417 cold storage cells are to be created here.
