Description
The project to mitigate the hydrogeological risk in the hamlet of Spiano in the municipality of Mercato S. Severino aims to design a set of works to reduce the hydrogeological risk of the area and to safeguard people, infrastructure and buildings from possible flood events. The interventions have been designed with the aim of guaranteeing a regularisation of the outflow phenomena in balance with the environmental protection of the territory and the consolidated urbanised context. It was also decided to balance in the best possible way the extensive interventions, dictated by hydraulic forest systems hinged on naturalistic engineering interventions, with intensive interventions, determined by the insertion of transversal "bridles" and longitudinal "embankments and bank defences". No less careful was the analysis of the regulation of the flows that cross the urban centre, in the foothills, and downstream, immediately upstream of their final destination.
