This contract is for the supply of ten vehicles, which are part of the JIVE project. These vehicles will be new and of the standard three-door bus type, class I, as defined by R107, with a length of +/-12 m. The only external energy source allowed is hydrogen. The only external energy source allowed is hydrogen. The buses will convert the pure (99.999%) hydrogen gas stored on board into electricity using a fuel cell. This electricity is used to propel the bus through its electrical transmission. There will therefore be no CO2 emissions in the exhaust. A hydrogen fuel cell bus will be classified as a hydrogen fuel cell bus if it is capable of performing a complete daily service cycle using only hydrogen (i.e. no other fuel/energy source is required).
