The City of Walldorf intends to further develop the existing campus "Waldschule Walldorf". With the elementary school Waldschule, the secondary school Waldschule and the special school Sambugaschule, two supplementary buildings with a total of 1,316 m2 of usable floor space are to be created. With the supplementary rooms in the refectory building and the supplementary school pavilion for an additional elementary school, the spatial deficits in the existing building are to be remedied and, in particular, better provision for the all-day operation of the school types is to be ensured. A good connection between the refectory and the other central functions near the main building and the workshop pavilion is desired in order to be able to offer the required functions in a central location. The supplementary school pavilion with classrooms should be positioned coherently in relation to the overall ensemble as a solitaire on the site and receive an appropriate connection to the existing building structures. The overall complex from the 1960s with its interlocking of interior and exterior space and its close relationship to the surrounding forest should be preserved and meaningfully supplemented and strengthened via the new buildings. Therefore, solutions are sought that qualitatively develop the campus in its surroundings and organically integrate the new required functions into the overall structure. The aim of the competition is to elaborate and strengthen the qualities of the location. Contemporary and high-quality new buildings are to be created that integrate with the existing buildings and meet the requirements of the city of Walldorf for very good, high-quality educational facilities. The planning should demonstrate special architectural, urban planning, open space planning and functional qualities on the basis of the boundary conditions specified in the competition.
