Description
The conversion of the water level into the discharge at extreme water levels represents an extremely important, but also critical sub-process in flood forecasting.The reason for this is the water level-discharge relationships (discharge curves/key curves), which are often only inadequately substantiated by measurements in the extreme range.So that gauging stations can be considered not only individually, but in their entirety as a gauge chain or as a hydrological longitudinal section, the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) intends to calculate the water level-discharge relationships of gauging stations that have not yet been recalculated.
