The buildings that the contracting authority manages consist primarily of protected buildings and as a result of this are subject to special provisions set by various authorities. In addition to being a national shrine and cathedral, is also a parish church with great activity throughout the entire year. There is also high activity in the other facilities through large parts of the day and year with different events. This may mean that special consideration must be exercise in relation to when and how the work can be performed. Large parts of the current buildings under NDR's management have or are built on foundations from the middle-ages and are located in the automatically protected area ‘Trondheim Middle Ages Town’.NDR is now finished with the restoration of the only remaining wooden building (the Artillery Building) in the enclosure of the courtyard (Borggården) at the Archbishop's Palace. We now see the possibility of renewing and developing other parts of the property portfolio in order to better facilitate hiring out and own use. The buildings have major variation in history, aesthetics, materials and design. The newer buildings are also protected by individual order and award-winning for their architecture. The variation in the buildings is also makes it relevant for us to sign contracts with multiple different architect offices for the purpose of maintaining the degree of variation in the new solutions in terms of function and aesthetics that we seek for the combined buildings.1.4 Goal of the architectural servicesThe goal of the architectural services will be to assist the contracting authority in programming, planning and engineering design of minor restorations and adaptation for suitable use in the facilities.
