Description
The Consumer Cannabis Act (KCanG), which came into force on 1 April 2024, legalized the private cultivation of cannabis by adults and the communal, non-commercial cultivation of cannabis for personal consumption in cultivation associations in Germany. However, the acquisition, possession and cultivation of cannabis by minors remains prohibited. In addition, the distribution of cannabis to children and adolescents is punished.
The aim of the present funding guideline "Accompanying scientific evaluation of the Consumer Cannabis Act (KCanG)" of the BMG is to evaluate the introduction of the KCanG over a period of four years by funding a joint project (accompanying project) and to gain new insights into the effect of the law, in particular on the protection of children and young people, (general) health protection and the development of cannabis-related crime in society. These findings are to be used to derive reliable indications for any necessary legislative adjustments.
