This workshop provides an overview on what the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) means for you, and the growth of your business.

What you’ll learn

  • Available business opportunities, by sector (inc. procurement)
  • Deep dive on important provisions to consider when trading with CPTPP members (inc. Rules of Origin)
  • How CPTPP complements existing Free Trade Agreements

Description

In this session we’ll look at the key sectors of the CPTPP and how you can make the most of its provisions and opportunities. We’ll also explore how the agreement compliments existing Free Trade Agreements with CPTPP members, such as Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

With UK exports to current CPTPP members forecast to increase 65% by 2030, this partnership offers huge potential for UK exporters. This is thanks to the fact that 99.9% of UK products will be eligible for tariff-free trade, with lower tariffs also secured for other exports, such as whisky and cars.

The UK is the first European country to join the CPTPP, after it concluded negotiations on 31 March 2023. By joining this partnership, the UK will be at the heart of a dynamic group of countries in an important region for the global economy.
