Ms. Nesreen Barakat, CEO of the Jordan Strategy Forum who will be covering a market overview on Jordan, insights into market dynamics, Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, and key sectors. Mr. Khaled Saqqaf, Partner and Head of the Jordan office of Al Tamimi & Company will provide a comprehensive overview of the regulatory landscape touching points on the ease of doing business, highlighting opportunities and challenges from a legal perspective. Lastly, we will be joined by British companies to share their first-hand experiences on doing business in Jordan.

H.E. Mrs. Nesreen Barakat
CEO, Jordan Strategy Forum
Mrs. Barakat has more than 25 years of professional experience in the areas of economic and social development, working with the government, international organisations, civil society, and the private sector in Jordan.
Mrs. Barakat has held significant roles throughout her career, including Minister of Social Development, Minister of Public Sector Development, General Director of the National Aid Fund, City Council Member at the Greater Amman Municipality, and member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Jordan.
Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees of Jordan University, chairs the Businesswomen Committee at the Amman Chamber of Commerce, and holds positions on the boards of Jordan Kuwait Bank, Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work, Jordan Impact Investment Board (JIIB), Business and Professional Women Association (BPWA), and the UN Women NGO Advisory Group.
Chantal Qassir
International Market Advisor, Middle East & Pakistan Export Support Service
Chantal has six years of experience in the trade and investment field, specialising in fostering international partnerships and driving economic growth. She currently serves as an International Market Advisor for the Middle East & Pakistan Export Support Service in the Department for Business and Trade at the British Embassy Amman, where she works on integrating UK supply chain into the Middle East & Pakistan by advising on doing business, market entry strategies and facilitating strategic connections for UK companies to access and thrive.
Prior to that, Chantal was the Public Relations & Communications Officer at the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, where she managed high-profile events and led on strategic communication initiatives to promote Jordan – U.S. Economic Relations.
Chantal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Princess Sumaya University for Technology.
Khaled Saqqaf
Partner and Head of Jordan Office, Al Tamimi & Company
Khaled is a highly experienced corporate commercial lawyer and regularly advises on some of the largest transactions in Jordan and Iraq. He practices in capital markets, M&A and due diligence transactions, drafting and reviewing various types of commercial contracts, structuring, and re-structuring of businesses, as well as advising on regulatory, labour, property, e-commerce, and telecommunications, information technology, and data related advise.
Khaled’s experience further extends to banking and finance where he advises lenders and institutional investors on banking incorporation and regulation, the underwriting and syndication of loans, restructuring of conventional and Islamic debt, debt recovery, and secured commercial lending.
Khaled has a deep understanding of the legal and judiciary systems of Jordan, having acted as special counsel in connection with drafting the laws and amendments to the privatized Telecommunications and Postal sectors.
In addition to his professional experience, Khaled was a commercial law lecturer at the Faculty of Law at AlZaytoonah University – Jordan, as well as being a certified mediator and arbitrator to the Amman Stock Exchange.
Ziad Marto
Trade & Investment Advisor and Deputy Country Director, Department for Business and Trade - Jordan
Ziad brings over eight years of expertise in the trade and investment sector, with a strong focus on developing international partnerships and driving economic growth to the United Kingdom. He currently serves as a Trade and Investment Adviser at the Department for Business and Trade within the British Embassy in Jordan. In this role, he leads initiatives in the Infrastructure, Energy, and Technology sectors, supporting the integration of the UK supply chain into the Jordanian market. Ziad specializes in advising on market entry strategies, facilitating business connections, and promoting the UK-Jordan Association Agreement.
Previously, Ziad was working in the Jordanian private sector as a Regional Sales Manager, where he gained valuable experience in regional market dynamics.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Concordia University in Canada.

He previously worked for a beverage distributor in Abu Dhabi for 12 months before taking up this export-based role in December 2023.
