The Department for Business and Trade (DBT)'s Food and Drink specialists will provide a step by step guide for moving food and drink overseas, covering key information such as:
- How to classify your goods and restrictions for goods in the destination country
- How to apply for licences such as export health certificates (EHC)
- How to get an EORI number and why you need one
- What shipping documentation is required when shipping your food and drinks overseas
There will also be time for a discussion with Export Champions / Freight Company about their own experiences of shipping food and drink to international markets, and bring along your burning questions to ask in our Q&A session!

Stephanie Cossom
Assistant Director, Agriculture, Food and Drink Sector Team, Department for Business and Trade (DBT)
Stephanie leads on business engagement, communications and Food and Drink Export Council Secretariat as part of DBT's Agriculture, Food and Drink Sector Team. She has worked for UK Government for about 20 years, previously working in Defra, the Animal and Plant Health Agency, and the Food Standards Agency. She has experience working on international policy development and delivery, and stakeholder engagement and communications. She has spent the last 5 years working in international trade, helping businesses to export.
Menna McNiven
Food Sector Specialist, Department for Business and Trade (DBT)
Menna is a food and drink industry specialist with over twenty years’ experience of exporting UK food and drink to international markets. She has a commercial background along with experience in senior international trade advisory roles. Menna has expertise in all aspects of distributor management and has also worked directly with retailers across Europe, North America, Asia, Middle East and South Africa.
